This July, Meridian Residents Invited to a Play Date with City Officials

MERIDIAN, MS – (July 5, 2017) – Summer is here, which means it's time to get your play on. This July, discover the power of play with The City of Meridian as they celebrate Parks and Recreation Month. A variety of fun activities are planned for residents of all ages and abilities — including bingo, basketball, line dancing, golf, and more.

The City of Meridian is celebrating Parks and Recreation Month, an initiative of the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA), and all the ways parks and recreation has the power to transform our daily lives.


Choctaw Transit Expands Service Hours in Meridian

CHOCTAW, Miss. – (May 4, 2017) – The Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians' Community Regional Transportation/Choctaw Transit in partnership with the City of Meridian will expand services hours in Meridian. Currently, transportation services are provided on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.; however a service expansion to include Tuesdays and Thursdays has been approved. This service began on Monday, April 3, 2017. The Meridian venture is a demand response route serviced with A.D.A.-equipped buses and vans that require all transportation requests to be made 24 hours in advance.


New Lights Will Make Highway 39 Safer, Cut Costs

MERIDIAN, MS – The City of Meridian will brighten nighttime travel, improve safety for motorists and save money for taxpayers by installing new LED lighting on a heavily traveled stretch of Highway 39.

The City will upgrade lights on state Highway 39 from Old U.S. Highway 45 to North Hills Street, a stretch of about two and a half miles. Mississippi Power crews will start the work before the end of February.
