A news conference to announce a unique and timely project to raise funds for Rebuild East Mississippi (REM) will be held Monday, February 5, 2007 at the REM office located in the Jubilee Mennonite Church chapel at 2721 Ninth Street.

Mayor John Robert Smith will announce the details of the fund-raising effort. He will be joined via conference call by Mayor Ken Fellman of Arvada, Colorado, whose city is also part of the venture.

Rebuild East Mississippi was organized following Hurricane Katrina to assist area residents whose properties were damaged or destroyed by the storm. Agency Director Jennifer McCraw will also be at the news conference to provide more details about REM's mission and the fund-raising effort.
