Thanks to a donation from a local couple, all the old equipment in the workout gym at the Meridian Police Department will be replaced with the newest and best equipment available. Helen and Harold J. Meyer, Jr. made the donation to Meridian Mayor John Robert Smith and Chief Administrative Officer Ken Storms. The new equipment will be provided at no cost to the city.

The Meyers said they were motivated to make the donation after reading an appeal in a letter-to-the-editor in The Meridian Star. They said using gym equipment has benefited them and they feel sure everyone who uses the new gym will improve their health.
