Shopping

Meridian offers many delightful shopping experiences. Visitors may choose among antiques shops, hand-crafted items, gift shops, clothing stores, specialty shops and regional and national chain stores. If you have a special interest, call the East Mississippi Business Development Corporation for a list of suggested shopping sources.

Downtown Meridian

Downtown Meridian is home to the MSU/Riley Center completed in 2006, offering performances in the restored Grand Opera House of Mississippi, conferences sponsored by Mississippi State University and classes for students of all ages. Complementing this major development are surrounding retail stores and restaurants, some of which have been downtown for 100 years or more. Condominiums and apartments are being re-integrated into the historic downtown district, supporting new restaurants, shops and services. Meridian's large stock of late-19th- and early-20th-century buildings and beautifully landscaped streets and sidewalks add to the ambience of this unique shopping area.

Bonita Lakes Mall

Bonita Lakes Mall is the premier shopping destination in East Mississippi and West Alabama. Located conveniently just off Interstates 20/59, the mall is one of developer CBL and Associates' biggest success stories. Designed with an Art Deco flair reminiscent of some architecture in downtown Meridian, the mall boasts four anchor stores--Belk, Dillard's, Sears and J.C. Penney--along with numerous specialty stores with merchandise ranging from shoes to electronics and everything in between. A nine-screen United Artists Cinema and a food court add to the offerings at Bonita Lakes Mall.
