Directions: From 29th Avenue, turn west on 36th Street, drive two blocks, and turn left on 32nd Avenue. Look for the signs.


This recreation center is open to adults 21 years and older. It is equipped with conference rooms, classrooms and a dining area to seat 75 people comfortably. There is a fully equipped kitchen, billiard room, snooker room, exercise room and lending library. The Ceramic Studio is led by Carole Ewing; payment is on a per-piece basis. The primary use of the center is for instruction programs and workshops.

Seniors over the age of 55 have first choice of the classes. Class size is limited. You are enrolled in the class of choice only when payment is made. Supplies are furnished by the participant.


*If you did not pre-register for your class, call to be sure it is still scheduled. We need at least six people to make a class!

$20 for adults under 55 living in Meridian
$25 for adults under 55 living outside Meridian

The Frank Cochran Center is a 16,184-square-foot multi-purpose building used primarily for rentals and special events.
Rental Fee: $500.00 per day
The building contains a concession area and some kitchen facilities.
Insurance is required for all events held at the Frank Cochran Center.

Velma Young Center

The center includes a television room, multi-purpose room used for instructional programs, recreational games and activities, and special events. The building can be rented for special purposes.
Rental Fees:
$150.00 each 3-hour period
$25.00 each additional hour
*Insurance is required for all activities except family reunions

SHELTERS AT VELMA YOUNG PARK
SHELTER #1 - located next to Velma Young Park Swimming Pool
SHELTER #2 - located behind the basketball courts

Fee for all shelters is $25.00
