SPECIAL COUNCIL MEETING, TUESDAY, JANUARY 23, 2007 AT 9:00 A.M.

 

Meeting called to order by Council President Thomas.

 

Present:  Thomas, Perry, Henson, Harris.

 

Absent:  Palmer.

            Mayor Smith stated the special meeting was called for the presentation of the 2006 Annual Report.  He read his letter to the citizens.  He introduced the artists whose work was featured in the annual report.  The following department heads gave a report on their departments:  Ed Skipper – Finance & Records; Jeff Homan – Fire Department; Don Farrar – Community Development; Bunky Partridge – Homeland Security; Mark Naylor – Parks & Recreation; Monty Jackson – Public Works; Benny Dubose – Police Department; Ed Skipper – FY07 budget and millage comparisons; Ken Storms – development projects; Maureen Lofton – her editor’s comment.  Mayor Smith thanked Maureen Lofton for the job on the annual report.  He thanked his department heads, their staff, the artists and the council members.  Council members expressed their thanks to the Mayor and his staff. 

 

            Councilwoman Henson offered and moved the adoption and passage of the following Order:

 

ORDER #13975       ORDER AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION OF CHANGE ORDER

                                    NO. 1 BETWEEN J & J CONTRACTORS, INC., COLLINSVILLE, MS

                                    AND AUTHORIZING PAYMENT IN CONNECTION WITH CHANGE

                                    ORDER NO. 1 (RILEY CENTER RIGHT-OF-WAY IMPROVEMENTS)

 

and, Councilwoman Perry seconded the motion, whereupon said Order was discussed, passed and adopted by the Council by a vote as follows:

 

Yea:  Thomas, Perry, Henson, Harris.

Nay:  None.

Absent:  Palmer.

 

            There being no further business to come before the Council at this time, the meeting was adjourned.  Sine die.
