Based
on a professional assessment
concerning the instability of the facade of the Threefoot Building, city officials have decided to close
off an area around the building for the safety of the public. An assessment by BioPure
Group concluded that "we have significant concern regarding the stability
of the facade and associated life safety risks which could arise if this facade
is not repaired and stabilized." Therefore, the city is closing off one
lane of traffic on 22nd Avenue in front of the Threefoot
and a section of the alleyway just south of the Threefoot. Trustmark Bank will close its northernmost
drive-through window to accommodate the closure.
These
sections of street will be closed until further notice.
